Steakhouse Mashed Potatoes

Looking for how to make mashed potatoes with a rich, steakhouse-style flavor? This recipe keeps things simple and classic. Creamy potatoes and Kinder’s The Blend Seasoning pair especially well for that classic steak and potatoes dinner. The result is smooth, flavorful mashed potatoes that work just as well for weeknight meals as they do for more special dinners at home.
Ingredients
2 pounds russet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1 to 2 inch chunks
Kosher salt, for the water
6 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature, cut into pieces
⅔ cup whole milk, warmed (plus more if needed)
2 Tbsp Kinder’s The Blend Seasoning, plus more to taste
2 cloves of garlic, microplaned
Optional
Chopped chives or parsley
Instructions
Peel and cut potatoes, place them in a large pot and cover with cold water. Swish them around with your hands, drain, and repeat once or twice until the water runs mostly clear. This removes excess surface starch and helps create a lighter, fluffier texture.
Refill the pot with cold water so the potatoes are covered by about one inch. Add a generous pinch of kosher salt. Bring to a boil over medium high heat, then reduce to a gentle simmer. Cook until the potatoes are completely tender and easily pierced with a fork, about 15 to 20 minutes.
Drain the potatoes thoroughly in a colander. Let them sit for a minute or two to allow excess moisture to steam off. While the potatoes sit, warm your milk.
For the fluffiest texture, pass the potatoes through a ricer or food mill back into the empty pot. Avoid using a blender or food processor, which can make them gluey.
While the potatoes are still hot, add the butter and microplaned garlic and gently fold until fully melted and incorporated.
Slowly pour in the warm milk, folding gently until smooth and creamy. Add more milk as needed to reach your desired consistency.
Season with Kinder’s The Blend, starting with 1 teaspoon and adjusting to taste.
Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Transfer to a serving bowl and finish with an extra light sprinkle of The Blend and fresh herbs if desired. Serve immediately while warm and fluffy.
