This game day, get dipping! This simple, hot appetizer is perfect for your game day party spread. Our Frito Pie recipe kicks up the smoky flavor with our Woodfired Chili Seasoning. The smoky beef and cheesy topping pair perfectly with Fritos®—scoop in or crush over the top to get your party started.
Ingredients
CHILI
1 lb Ground Beef
1 Can Crushed Tomatoes, 15oz (ideally, fire-roasted)
½ Cup Water
CHEESE & TOPPINGS
8 oz Cream Cheese, Softened
1½ Cups Monterey Jack or Cheddar Cheese, Shredded
½ Cup Green Onions, Sliced
¾ Cup Tomato, Diced
½ Cup Sour Cream
1 Bag Fritos® Original Corn Chips or Fritos® Scoops
Fresh or Pickled Jalapenos, Sliced (optional)
Instructions
Brown the ground beef in a skillet on medium-high heat.
Once browned, add Kinder’s Woodfired Chili seasoning packet, tomatoes, and water.
Allow to simmer for 10 minutes.
Remove from heat and set aside to cool.
You will note that this recipe does not have beans, which are included on the instructions for the Woodfired Chili seasoning packet. This is not a mistake; there are no beans in this recipe.
Pre-heat oven to 350°F.
In a 9-inch oven-safe dish (we use a cast iron skillet), spread cream cheese in the bottom of the pan and then top with chili.
Finish by topping with shredded cheese.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly and the dish is heated throughout.
Remove from oven and top with dollops of sour cream, diced tomatoes, green onion, and, if using, the jalapenos.
At this point, you can serve the dip as is with a bowl of Fritos® on the side (if serving this way, Fritos® Scoops work well since they are basically their own spoon).
You can also sprinkle the Fritos® on top of the dip and serve. Both work and it just depends on what you like.
